Owner was nasty and demeaning, won't honor his repairs.
I just had perhaps the worst customer service experience of my life. Sage was recommended to me by a friend for jewelry repair. A bit over a year ago, I took my wedding/engagement ring there because a prong was loose. After looking at the ring the owner, John, recommended more extensive repair replacing all of the boxes that held each of the diamonds (a total of 6 diamonds). I agreed to the repair upon his suggestion that the prongs were too old to repair.
To my horror, two days ago I noticed that one of the diamonds was missing out of the ring. I took it to the store just now, and had an awful experience. When I walked in, I explained to the woman working at the counter about the repairs done just a year ago. John was in the back and overheard. He asked for the ring, and immediately got defensive saying "how could I expect him to honor his repairs from a year ago?" He also said there were now 3 prongs loose. I AM NOT rough on my things. This is the nicest piece of jewelry I will ever own, and I take very good care of it. I pointed out that I had it for 16 years without a problem before I brought it to him. He cut me off and demeaned me several times, saying things like "I ve been in this business 30 years, and I KNOW!" and "What do you want me to do melt it down and sell it?"
I'm really not even sure what he meant by those comments. All I do know is that a SINGLE year of normal use should not be all one gets out of a jeweler's repairs. More than that, his attitude and demeanor were highly unprofessional and downright rude. At the end of his rant he gave me a very weak offer to leave the ring and "he'd see what he could do." There was NO way I was going to let him touch my ring with that kind of attitude. I will eat the cost, and go somewhere that customers are treated with dignity and respect.
POOR SERVICE AT SAGE JEWERLY,NATE NATHANSON- CUSTOMER.
I have been a customer of Sage Jewelers for many years.I have all my watches repaired, batteries and straps purachased, replaced there.Never had a problem until this August.Purchasd a special order leather band
and picked it up in July. The band was close to $50.00 and was perfect.2 weeks later the watch the band was on stopped working.Brought it in,John the associate(not the owner) quoted $30,00 to ship it out for repair quote.Called back and said the repair would be $187.25 I asked what the guarantee was on the watch, and that id like it in writing on the invoice, his reply was one year on labor, not sure about parts. When i pressed on for him to be specific, his reply was "YEA,YEA" like he couldnt be bothered..Fine,i gave approval and gave him credit card info over phone. When the watch returned to his shop
he called and asked that I pick it up.Ok,until i came in shop.1/ when i entered the shop, all i had was the receipt for the $30.00 shipping a. I asked for the $187.25 receipt (cr Card) he said he doesnt have it 2/ I asked him to write the warranty on my receipt, which he said "ARE YOU A LAWYER) No im not a lawyer, but verbal guarantees dont work.(he wrote one year,parts/labor)He gave me the watch,I expressed my displeasure and asked when the owner would be in.Next day was his answer,No sorry, nothing. When I got out side noticed leather band was ripped(Either it was done at repair place or the Jewelry shop)Came back in,showed John.Virtually, no response,as if I did it.Called ,next day, owner almost as bad, told me to come in.Ill never go back again. Its the principal, not the amount of $$$
