Place is too dirty for cockroaches.
Swimming pool suite reservation for Mon Apr 15 2012
I receive a call from management about 1pm on Sunday that the swimming pool suite that I had booked was trashed the night before. Management proceeds to tell me that they can not get a crew in on Sunday to have the room fixed in time for me to check in Monday. After 1 hour of arguing on the phone with management, the manager decides to comp me a free room due to this inconvenience.
Driving down Black Horse Pike we passed trailer homes and run down properties. There was no attractions near the area. The casinos are a 10 min drive from this location. My girlfriend and I arrived at approximately 5pm, which is an hour and a half after check in. It looked as if we were the only car on the property. This place has absolutely no curb appeal. The non-paved gravel lot has pot holes strewn about. I am not impressed at all and neither was my girlfriend, I could see by the reaction on her face.
I exit my car walk past dead shrubs and weed infested flower boxes. I enter the dim lit lobby which is very comparable to a Asian fast food pickup restaurant. There were posters of Buddha and mini jade elephant statues in the lobby. There was only one person working behind the counter, he was the manager and of Arabic decent with a difficult to understand accent.
The manager hands me a contract and circles $0.00 total price of the room. After signing I am handed a photo copy map of the property and single card key for the room.
I am engulfed by a musty smell upon entering the room. I turn on all of the lights and open the curtains to get a good look around. After a one min inspection of the room I made up my mind that I was not staying here tonight.
Here is a short list of what I found in the room within a min.
1. Musky moldy smell
2. Poor lighting.
3. Cheap laminate counters in kitchenette and bathroom were bubbling and cracked.
4. Leaking shower head.
5. Dead switch that controlled no light/heater/outlet in room.
6. Peeling wall paper.
7. Drapes around bed were falling down and being held up with zip ties.
8. Curtains left a dust cloud when opening them.
9. Microwave was smaller than most TV dinners.
10. Black mold in all corners of the showers and between tiles.
11. Finger/hand prints on the mirrors.
12. Burnt out bulb.
This place was a mess. I never inspected the jacuzzi or looked at the sheets on the bed. I feared what insect or bacteria was making a home in the linens.
Stay away from this place. Stay far away. Serious risks to your health if you stay on this property. I had a free room and would not stay. Disgusting across the board.
I went back to the lobby tore up the contract and threw it on the floor after telling the manager he couldn't pay me to stay there.
what a dump.
Wanted to take my girlfriend for a nice get away. booked a room at the Egg Harbor Inn of the Dove. We get there, it looked run down from the outside. We arrived around 5:30 P.M. Go into the office to register, seems a little dirty. We had a room in the back, so we walk across the sidewalk, no landscaping at all done on the place and there were a couple of ladders laying around.
We go into the room. The hot tub looked old and dirty, with the faucet leaking. This was right behind the bed, so if the water wasn't over the jets the bed got wet. The bathroom was missing a fixture, maybe a boudet, as there were pipes sticking out of the floor. A couple of the bulbs were burnt out and there were switches that did nothing. We had the honeymoon suite, it just didn't have any "wow factor". very cheesey and overall in poor condition, the rooms didn't seem updated to me. For what we paid for the room, $175, it was a waste of money. I would suggest going somehwere else, there is an Econo Lodge down the road that looked nicer, had jacuzzis and was probably cheaper. Run, don't walk, away from this place.
Poor management attitude, crappy accommodations for "suite"..
Everything about the Inn of the Dove in Egg Harbor Township NJ 08234 (6665 Black Horse Pike, Rt. 322 East) was as advertised per their web site when we booked our 2 night romantic stay for Feb. 24-25, 2012.
What wasn’t mentioned was you have 15 minutes to look over the suite to decide you want to stay in it or change to another one. During that time I checked for bedbugs and found none. I checked that the heat, TV, water, most of the lights, bathroom, etc. functioned properly. On the surface, everything looked OK, but once unpacked and settled, found that
1. there were no clothes hangers in the closet,
2. no plastic water cups in the bathroom, no sink stopper to hold water in the basin.
3. there was just one small bar of soap (1” x 2”) for the two of us,
4. all of the lights flickered once they were on for several minutes (somewhat annoying),
5. there was a missing light bulb at the inside of the door,
6. the combination bathroom ceiling fan and light did not work at all
7. no end table or lamp table to put your car keys, watch, other stuff into. (Our clothing filled the small 3 drawer dresser table that the TV was on)
8. the built in audio system was not working at all
9. to get ice, you had to walk outside from your suite to the office so they could fill the ice bucket for you. Try that at night. That will ruin some romantic pleasures.
10. We booked the Italian Deluxe suite, and the only thing “Italian” about it was myself and my wife (we are Italian). Just a plain Jane suite. Not even a statue of Caesar or Roman drapes. Bummer.
We are very tolerant people, so we just asked for
11. some hangers, (got 3 of them),
12. received 2 more bars of soap, (very generous),
13. got about 6 Styrofoam cups (OK),
14. was told the ceiling fan/light would get fixed the next day (it wasn’t done)
15. never got a sink stopper. Office person didn’t know what I was talking about.
We could not discover all of this in 15 minutes to tell them we wanted another suite.
Oh, it doesn’t end here. Stay tuned for this doozy situation.
In the morning, we left the suite around noon time and had a fantastic day seeing the Classic Car show in Atlantic City. We got wet in the ensuing rain after the show and were both looking forward to a romantic evening getting out of or wet clothes and into the Jacuzzi with a glass of wine. Got back to the suite around 7 PM. The suite was not made up at all. Bed not made, trash not emptied, no new towels, etc.
At that point, we had enough. Saw the Office person, said I was annoyed at all of these issues, and wanted a credit for the night’s stay so I could leave right away. He had no authority for that and had me talk to the manager on the phone. He said they call each room in the morning to ask if the people want the room made up, and said he called between 10:30 and 11AM, but no one answered, so he told the office not to make up the room. LIAR.
Both of us were in the suite all morning until leaving at noon time., and never stepped out for a few minutes, as he alleged we must have done. This is what put us over the edge, and the reason for writing this review. This manager is a disgrace to his ethnic group and is the reason some people don’t like them.
He insisted my car was not in the parking space and the suite appeared empty. Upon asking if he can verify that he called the correct suite number, or what my suite number was, he couldn’t tell me. LIAR.
The suite was eventually made up properly. Upon checking out the next day, I videotaped the entire suite to show that nothing was taken, stolen or ruined upon our departure, and was in good condition, just in case!! I asked at the desk for a comment card, and had to explain to the office person what that was. The response was “Oh, we don’t do that here.” I can see why.
Will try to send this review to corporate office to see if they respond.
My Bithday Week-End. My husband took me here for my birthday last August...it was an amazing place to say the least. We had the swimming pool room & it was really fantastic! The pool was clean & well taken care of, the whirl pool was nice & cozy......the bathroom was clean as well. This was the most relaxing & fun-filled week-end that I have ever had & I look forward to going back again.Who needed sights & entertainment when I had the love of my life right there with me...no reason whatsoever to leave the room.
