Bad Service, Bad Neighborhood
by medigan at Citysearch
On the map, Super 8 looks like it's in the middle of everything. Once we got there, it's not. It's on a run down street a few blocks away from the ocean. All the surrounding buildings were falling apart. I would definitely NOT be outside the hotel after dark. The staff was also very rude. We refused to stay the night because of the location and poor service. They refused a refund (even when their corporate headquarters agreed with our side, the final decision is up to the specific manager on duty). We had to make a report to their corporate HQ before they even offered to bargan. They agreed to 1/2 of a refund which we still have not recieved over a year later. NOT RECOMMENDED!!!
- Pros: None
- Cons: Location, poor lighting in parking area
Free coffee refills and budget rates make this motel tops with highway travelers.

In Short
The first Super 8 opened in Aberdeen, S.D., in 1974, charging $8.88 a night. Today, the national franchise, with its familiar red-and-yellow sign, still stands for dependable rooms at wallet-friendly prices. A staple for road-tripping families, truck drivers and tour groups, the motel offers complimentary morning coffee and continental breakfasts. Another perk for travelers: Super 8 travel cups may be refilled for free at any of the motel's locations.
